Concept
Garanti BBVA Özel Bankacılık is the private-banking arm of Türkiye Garanti Bankası A.Ş., Turkey's second-largest private bank (behind İşbank), 85.97% owned by Spain's BBVA. Launched in 2004 as "Garanti Masters Özel Bankacılık", it sits inside the bank's Retail Banking block (EVP Ceren Acer Kezik, in post since 1 June 2022, with a remit covering Retail, Mass and Private Banking). The affluent tier below private banking is the "Benim Bankacım" (My Banker) programme, launched in 2025.
There is no officially published entry minimum: the service page describes the offering only. A figure of ~TL 15 m (~US$345 k) circulating on a weak forum source is unverified. Official asset bands for private-banking cards run TL 2–10 m, 10–20 m, 20–100 m and 100 m+.
For FY2025 the bank reported total assets of TL 4 547.8 bn (~US$105 bn), net income of TL 111.26 bn, ROAE of 29.1% and deposits of TL 3 143.9 bn; it ranks first among Turkey's private banks in TL loans and in consumer loans plus cards. Private-banking AUM and client counts are not disclosed; the last disclosure — 6 500 clients and ~TL 8 bn AUM in 2012 — is dated.

Regulation
Türkiye Garanti Bankası A.Ş. (BIST: GARAN) is supervised by the banking regulator BDDK/BRSA, the capital-markets board SPK/CMB and the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT). Broker Garanti BBVA Yatırım holds a CMB licence; GarantiBank International N.V. is supervised by DNB and the ECB.
Compliance context: on 8 March 2013 the Competition Board fined 12 banks for coordinating deposit, loan and credit-card pricing in 2007–2011; the Garanti economic unit received the largest single fine, TL 213 384 545.76, upheld by the Council of State around 2020. In a February–September 2026 labour-market (no-poach) investigation the bank settled, agreeing to pay TL 1 547 608 979.25 (KAP disclosure, September 2026). No major BDDK or SPK enforcement specific to the private bank has surfaced.
Source of wealth
The client base is built on industrial and export-business owners from Istanbul and Anatolia, senior professionals and real-estate fortunes. Inflation-hedge demand — FX, gold, equities, crypto — is a structural driver. Source of funds checks follow standard sector procedures.
Who it serves
Affluent-to-HNW residents of Turkey — business owners, exporters, professionals and property-rich families — plus internationally oriented Turkish HNW clients via GarantiBank International in the Netherlands and Germany. Clients below the private-banking tier are served by the "Benim Bankacım" programme.
Services
Dedicated relationship managers with limited client loads; exclusive private-banking branches; a full investment suite with a formal advisory process; discretionary portfolio management via Garanti BBVA Portföy; brokerage including US equities; FX and precious-metal accounts; crypto trading and custody; cultural and lifestyle events and the "Masterpiece" private-banking magazine. Lombard credit, estate planning and a standalone family office are not publicly advertised.

Strengths
- Turkey's second-largest private bank, #1 among private banks in TL loans and consumer loans plus cards.
- Financial base: TL 4 547.8 bn assets (~US$105 bn), ROAE 29.1% in FY2025.
- In-house asset manager leading the mutual-fund sector.
- An ECB-jurisdiction offshore window — GarantiBank International in Amsterdam.
- Embedded crypto service with a measurable client base.
Where it falls short
- No publicly advertised lombard credit, estate planning or standalone family office.
- Private-banking AUM and client counts are undisclosed; the last figures (6 500 clients, ~TL 8 bn in 2012) are dated.
- Hyperinflation accounting (IAS 29 at BBVA group level since 2022) makes TL figures hard to compare; this profile gives ~US$ equivalents alongside.
- Little to offer clients who need booking centres beyond Turkey and the Netherlands.
Garanti BBVA Private Banking is a large, domestically anchored service with a strong investment and asset-management core, BBVA group backing and a narrow international map: a credible second home for capital runs mainly through the Netherlands.
