There is no separate UHNW tier branded "SBI Private Banking": SBI Wealth serves affluent, HNI and UHNI clients under one brand with tiered relationship managers. Its predecessor, SBI Exclusif, was piloted in January 2016 and rebranded around 2017. The Government of India holds 55.47% of the bank (as of 30 June 2026) after the ₹25,000 crore QIP of July 2025; the chairman is Challa Sreenivasulu Setty, in office since 28 August 2024. The unit is headed by Sandeep Sharma, Country Head – Wealth Management (named June 2025), according to published reports.

Strengths
- Scale: India's largest bank; group deposits ₹59.76 lakh crore; FY26 standalone net profit ₹80,032 crore; market cap ₹10.9 lakh crore (Mar 2026).
- SBI Wealth: AUM of ₹2.83 lakh crore and 3.87 lakh customers (Mar 2025), according to the official annual report; ~₹4 lakh crore (Feb 2026, per the chairman) and a target of ₹15 lakh crore by 2030, according to published reports; 4.64 lakh customers in FY26; 996 wealth-unit hires (Dec 2025).
- Critical nuance: SBI Wealth's "AUM" is mostly deposits (CASA + fixed deposits) — the investment component was ₹58,821 crore of ₹2.83 lakh crore at FY25. The headline figure is not comparable to pure private-bank invested AUM.
Where it falls short
- No dedicated UHNW brand and no full family-office product.
- AUM is mostly deposit-based — the investment platform's depth trails specialist private banks.
- No standalone offshore PB entity; NRI wealth runs through domestic SBI Wealth and foreign offices.
SBI Wealth is the all-purpose entry into wealth management for clients who value the scale, state backing and NRI expertise of India's largest bank.
Q/A
How much do I need to join SBI Wealth?
Existing customers need a TRV of at least ₹50 lakh (1 lakh = 100,000 Indian rupees); new-to-bank clients start with ₹15 lakh and reach ₹50 lakh within a year. Alternates: a home loan of ₹2 crore or more, or a premium salary package.
How does SBI Wealth differ from classic private banking?
There is no separate UHNW brand: affluent, HNI and UHNI clients sit under one brand with tiered relationship managers. Its AUM is mostly deposits rather than invested assets.
Are deposits insured?
Yes: DICGC covers up to ₹5 lakh per depositor per bank, with payout within 90 days. The limit has been in force since February 2020.
Is there a family office?
No full family-office product exists. Estate planning is available through SBICAP Trustee's will services.
Is SBI Wealth suitable for NRIs?
Yes: over 3 million NRI customers, NRI deposits of US$33.1 bn, 434 NRI branches and 244 overseas offices in 29 countries.
