Endowus: the Fee-Only Wealth Platform of Singapore and Hong Kong

This is a provider case study, not an investment recommendation. Read it inside the private-banking guide and the investment-platform map. Primary evidence: MAS Financial Institutions Directory.

Endowus is a Singapore and Hong Kong digital wealth platform built around fee-only distribution and rebating trailer commissions. The legal perimeter, fees and eligibility below are given as of August 2026; portfolio suitability still requires an individual assessment.

The MAS directory lists Endowus Singapore Pte. Ltd. as a Capital Markets Services Licensee for fund management and dealing in collective investment schemes, and as an exempt financial adviser. Company materials document the Hong Kong platform and acquisition history.

Before the fees and the shelf are taken apart one by one, here is the platform's frame in figures as of August 2026.

Licences and the model

The regulatory frame is dual. In Singapore, Endowus Singapore Pte. Ltd. holds a Capital Markets Services licence for fund management — CMS 101051 from MAS — and operates as an exempt financial adviser; in Hong Kong, Endowus HK Limited is licensed by the SFC for Type 1 (dealing in securities), Type 4 (advising on securities) and Type 9 (asset management) regulated activities under CE number BQR225. Endowus is not the custodian: in Singapore a custody account is opened in the client's own name with UOB Kay Hian, while cash moves through UOB Kay Hian's client trust account at HSBC and financial assets remain segregated from both firms' own money.

The economics rest on a single charge — the Endowus Fee of 0.25% to 0.60% a year — and on the full rebate of trailer fees: whatever fund managers pay in distribution commissions is returned to clients as cashback, which by the company's own estimate saves investors more than US$40 million annually. The second pillar is institutional share classes: a hundred managers, including Dimensional and PIMCO, are available in the share classes sovereign wealth funds use — the ones retail banks do not show private clients.

Pricing and products

The fee schedule as of August 2026 runs in tiers, and the tier depends on where the money comes from.

Source and productThresholdAnnual fee
Cash, long-term portfoliosup to S$200,0000.60%
Cash, long-term portfoliosS$200,000 – S$1 million0.50%
Cash, long-term portfoliosS$1 million – S$5 million0.35%
Cash, long-term portfoliosabove S$5 million0.25%
CPF and SRS, advised portfoliosno tiers0.40%
CPF and SRS, single-fund portfoliosno tiers0.30%
Cash managementno tiers0.15%

On top sit only the funds' own fees — 0.50–0.56% in the core portfolios — so the all-in load lands between 0.75% and 1.16% a year; there are no sales charges, transaction, transfer or withdrawal fees, and Singapore's 9% GST applies to the access fee.

The shelf: global Flagship portfolios built on passive and factor funds, dividend-focused Income portfolios, Cash Smart solutions in three risk grades, and the Fund Smart builder with more than 400 funds for self-directed allocation. Entry from S$1,000, top-ups from S$100, no lock-ups, withdrawals in two to five business days. Cash Smart is an investment product, not a deposit or a capital guarantee. Its official figures as of 31 July 2026 put the three grades side by side.

Secure1.2%-0.05%
Enhanced2.1%-1.55%
Ultra2.4%-2.88%

Ultra uses short-duration bond funds and can have negative months.

CPF and SRS: the pension moat

The decisive home-market advantage is access to CPF Ordinary Account money, which sits at 2.5% a year by default. The mechanics: amounts above the first S$20,000 in the OA can be invested after opening a CPF Investment Account with one of the agent banks — DBS, OCBC or UOB; Endowus remains the only digital adviser managing CPF savings. That creates an explicit hurdle: an invested CPF portfolio must beat the OA's current 2.5% rate after fund and platform fees to improve the return, while exposing the capital to market risk. The voluntary SRS scheme, with its tax relief, is open to foreigners as well — for work-pass holders it is usually the first sensible investment wrapper in Singapore.

Private Wealth and private markets

The segment for accredited investors carries the same logic into alternatives. The Endowus fee runs from 0.60% a year on assets up to US$500,000 down to 0.30% above US$50 million; the shelf spans Apollo, Ares, Carlyle, HPS, Oaktree and Blue Owl in private credit, AlpInvest, CVC, EQT, HarbourVest, Partners Group and Vista in private equity, and Point72, Brevan Howard and Schonfeld among hedge funds — with minimums from US$50,000 in semi-liquid evergreen structures, against the hundreds of thousands typical in classic distribution. Part of the feeder infrastructure comes through an alliance with iCapital.

On 19 August 2025 the shelf added private infrastructure from Macquarie Asset Management — the US$588 billion manager's first partnership with a digital wealth platform in Asia; the product is open to accredited investors in Singapore and professional investors in Hong Kong. By October 2025, client assets in alternatives had crossed US$500 million, tripling in a year.

Hong Kong

The Hong Kong business was built on top of the acquired Carret Private and went live in April 2023 with over 140 funds in Fund Smart plus an alternatives shelf. Retail is led by Steffanie Yuen, formerly of Value Partners and Ant Group; her diagnosis of local distribution in an SCMP interview is direct: in a bank branch the client talks to salespeople pushing the fund of the month, not advisers. The model took hold: by October 2024 the group managed more than US$6 billion, and in the year to October 2025 the Hong Kong client base grew 150% while assets tripled. Hong Kong also supplied the second regulatory anchor: the MAS-plus-SFC combination covers both principal harbours of Asian private capital.

Competitive context

No one in the region replicates the full stack, and classic distribution earns exactly the trailer fees Endowus engineered out of its own revenue.

The Endowus niche is the whole ladder at once: entry at S$1,000, pension money, and — as capital grows — alternatives and private-wealth pricing without switching platforms. The private-banking end of that ladder is dissected in our private banking guide, and neighbouring options are collected in our review of investment platforms.

Onboarding and the practical arithmetic

Accounts open online. Singapore citizens and permanent residents pass through Singpass MyInfo; foreigners holding an Employment Pass or S Pass can open cash and SRS accounts with manual document verification, while CPF investing remains reserved for citizens and PRs. A Singapore bank account is required. In Hong Kong the platform serves residents with a local bank account; private markets are restricted to professional investors — under the local standard, an investment portfolio of HK$8 million or more. Singapore's accredited investor status follows the familiar MAS tests — annual income from S$300,000 or net financial assets from S$1 million; details in our guide to the status.

The arithmetic for a capital owner: on a S$3 million cash portfolio the Endowus Fee is 0.35% a year — against the 1–2% all-in of classic private banking, the difference compounds into tens of thousands of dollars annually. What the platform does not offer is lombard credit, collateralised structured products and transactional banking, so the typical configuration of a wealthy client is two-track: the long-term core here, credit and payments at the bank.

The economics of the model

Endowus is a rare case of transparency reaching scale. Refusing trailer fees compresses revenue to 0.25–0.60% of assets, so the model only works with retention: nine years without a single month of net outflows turn US$10 billion of assets into sustainable tens of millions in revenue. The October 2025 round marks the next phase — pension platforms in both jurisdictions, the WealthWise AI assistant, and B2B products for independent advisers and external asset managers: infrastructure built for the platform's own clients begins to be sold to those who cannot rebuild it. The trajectory mirrors Arta Finance and supports a general rule of wealth tech: the second monetisation loop almost always turns out to be B2B.

Q/A

Who can open an Endowus account?

In Singapore — citizens and permanent residents aged 18 and above via Singpass MyInfo, plus foreigners holding a valid Employment Pass or S Pass, who get cash and SRS accounts with document-based verification. A Singapore bank account is required. In Hong Kong, accounts are available to residents with a local bank account; private markets are for professional investors only.

How much does investing through the platform cost?

A single Endowus Fee: 0.25–0.60% a year for cash depending on assets, 0.40% for CPF and SRS (0.30% for single-fund portfolios), 0.15% for cash management, and 0.30–0.60% in Private Wealth. On top sit only the funds' own fees; trailer commissions are rebated in full, and there are no charges for transactions, deposits or withdrawals.

Can CPF pension savings be invested?

Yes — this is the signature feature: Endowus is the only digital adviser with access to CPF Ordinary Account money. Amounts above the first S$20,000 are invested through a CPF Investment Account at DBS, OCBC or UOB. The option is limited to citizens and permanent residents; foreigners can use SRS with its tax relief instead.

Does Endowus replace a private bank?

Only partly. The platform runs a liquid portfolio and alternatives at a fraction of private banking costs, but offers no lombard lines, collateralised structured products or day-to-day banking. The typical configuration is a core of assets on the platform plus a banking rail for credit, payments and complex structuring.
