Concept
NBK Wealth is the group-level brand of National Bank of Kuwait S.A.K.P. (NBK), launched on 28 April 2024, combining NBK's worldwide private banking with Watani Investment Company (asset management) and affiliates. It is a registered brand of the bank, not a separate legal entity. NBK describes it as the largest wealth management entity in Kuwait and among the largest in the region: AUM exceeded US$20 billion at end-2023 and US$41 billion at end-2024 (a ~US$47.5 billion figure for September 2025 circulates via a secondary aggregator — reported, unverified). NBK Wealth contributes around 10% of group net operating income (2025). NBK is Kuwait's largest conventional bank: FY2025 net profit KD 575.6 million (~US$1.9 billion), total assets KD 45.6 billion (~US$149.4 billion), rated Moody's A1 / Fitch A+ / S&P A+ (upgraded November 2025).

Regulation
The parent, NBK S.A.K.P., is supervised by the Central Bank of Kuwait. Geneva-based NBK Banque Privée (Suisse) SA is overseen by FINMA; NBKI in London by the PRA and FCA; Watani Wealth Management by the Saudi CMA; NBK France SA by the ACPR; NBK Trustees (Jersey) Ltd by the JFSC. CBK penalties are self-disclosed: KD 10,000 on 29 July 2025 (AML instruction violation) and KD 25,000 on 20 February 2022. For NBK Banque Privée and NBKI, an absence of named public notices cannot certify the absence of supervisory action. FINMA normally keeps individual proceedings private unless a supervisory interest justifies disclosure; the FCA also limits publicity during investigations.

Strengths
- Scale and capital: AUM above US$41 billion, group assets ~US$149 billion, ratings A1 / A+ / A+.
- Kuwait's state deposit guarantee plus Swiss and UK protection schemes on Western platforms.
- Full spectrum: from discretionary management to trusts, real estate and Islamic solutions.
- Deep regional expertise with presence in Geneva, London, Riyadh and Dubai.
Where it falls short
Entry thresholds are opaque: no official PB minimum is published, and the premium tiers (KD 100,000 / £50,000) do not guarantee private-banking access. Clients outside the GCC seeking a universal bank with Latin American or Asian coverage may find the profile narrow. Kuwait has no legislated deposit-insurance scheme — only the state guarantee.
NBK Wealth is a natural fit for Gulf capital that wants the scale of Kuwait's largest bank and Swiss private banking without leaving the group.
Q/A
What is the minimum for NBK Wealth private banking?
No official minimum is published. The highest published premium tier, Privilege Banking, requires KD 100,000 (~US$326,000) held for three consecutive months or a salary of KD 3,000 per month; NBKI London sets a £50,000 minimum.
How are deposits protected in Kuwait?
There is no formal insurance scheme; an unlimited state guarantee covers all deposits at local banks under Law 30/2008. Geneva deposits carry esisuisse cover up to CHF 100,000; London, FSCS up to £85,000.
Is NBK Wealth a separate bank?
No. It is a group brand of National Bank of Kuwait S.A.K.P., launched on 28 April 2024, combining private banking and asset management; services are provided by the group's licensed entities.
Does NBK have regulatory violations?
NBK self-discloses CBK penalties: KD 10,000 (29 July 2025, AML) and KD 25,000 (20 February 2022). No public FINMA, FCA or PRA enforcement against its Geneva and London entities was found.
Is Islamic private banking available?
Yes: Sharia-compliant options run through Islamic money-market funds and Boubyan Bank (~58–60% group-owned), plus Sharia brokerage.
