Concept
Mandiri Private is the private banking unit within the Wealth Management Group of PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk, Indonesia's largest bank by assets: IDR 2,829.9 trillion (~US$168 billion) at end-2025, with FY2025 net profit of IDR 56.3 trillion. The service model is a two-tier ladder: Mandiri Prioritas (affluent) → Mandiri Private (HNW). Official thresholds (bank statement, May 2025): Prioritas requires a minimum of IDR 1 billion in total FUM; Private requires a minimum of IDR 20 billion (the Private threshold stood at IDR 5 billion in 2021 — the increase is notable). Wealth-management AUM exceeds IDR 300 trillion (May 2025, official statement), with AUM up 15% YoY and upper-segment clients up roughly 20% YoY at Q1 2025.

Regulation
PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk is listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX: BMRI), supervised by OJK and Bank Indonesia, and is an LPS member. PT Mandiri Sekuritas has operated under OJK capital-markets licensing since 2000; PT Mandiri Manajemen Investasi is a fund manager established in 2004. The Singapore branch holds a MAS wholesale bank licence. Compliance record: in July 2019 an IT migration outage altered displayed balances; OJK investigated and ordered remediation (no monetary fine found). In December 2025 OJK issued a written warning to subsidiary PT Mandiri Utama Finance over AML programme non-compliance (remediated). No material OJK fine against the bank itself was identified in the 2023–2026 sources reviewed.
Source of wealth
The typical source of funds: entrepreneurs and conglomerate families, commodity fortunes (palm oil, mining), professionals and state-enterprise executives. Demand for Islamic wealth services is routed through BSI.
Who it serves
The service targets affluent and high-net-worth Indonesians: business owners and their families, clients with concentrated positions in Mandiri group products, and HNW clients seeking offshore diversification via Singapore. Board-level oversight sits with Saptari, Director of Consumer Banking (since March 2025).
Services
Mutual funds, primary- and secondary-market government bonds (SBN), bancassurance (AXA Mandiri Financial Services), securities brokerage and structured products; RM advisory; risk-based portfolio management and wealth/succession planning through the Lombard Odier strategic partnership (2018), according to published reports; lifestyle privileges (airport lounges, travel insurance, education and legacy consulting). Not offered: onshore discretionary portfolio management (Indonesian regulation constrains DPM), a marketed lombard credit product, and domestic trust products (Indonesian civil law has no common-law trust — estate/succession planning advisory only).

Strengths
The country's largest bank by assets with state control (Danantara, 52%) as a stability factor; a full onshore shelf from funds to bancassurance; the Singapore hub as the closest thing to an offshore booking and diversification platform for Indonesian PB clients, according to published reports; the Livin' digital ecosystem (37.2 million users at end-2025; Livin' Investasi with more than 1.3 million registered investors); and access to Islamic banking via controlled BSI.
Where it falls short
Clients who need onshore DPM, lombard lending or trust structures will not find them here, for regulatory and legal reasons. The offshore footprint is also limited: the Hong Kong, Cayman, Dili, Shanghai and London points serve treasury and corporate business, not private banking. The IDR 20 billion entry threshold is higher than at some local competitors.
Mandiri Private is private banking inside Indonesia's largest state-controlled bank: a strong onshore platform, a Singapore outlet for diversification, and well-defined regulatory limits on DPM and trusts.
Q/A
What is the minimum entry threshold for Mandiri Private?
A minimum of IDR 20 billion in funds under management; the Prioritas tier starts at IDR 1 billion. The Private threshold was raised from IDR 5 billion in 2021.
Are deposits at Bank Mandiri insured?
Yes: LPS guarantees up to IDR 2 bn per depositor per bank, provided the deposit is recorded, interest does not exceed the LPS ceiling and the depositor has not been involved in actions that damaged the bank's financial condition. For 1 October 2026–31 January 2027, the commercial-bank ceiling is 3.75% a year for IDR and 2% for foreign currency.
Is offshore servicing available?
Yes — through Bank Mandiri Singapore Branch (MAS wholesale bank licence), which markets Overseas Financial Products (PKLN) to accredited investors: bonds, structured notes and private equity funds, according to published reports.
Does the bank offer trust structures?
No. Indonesian civil law does not recognise the common-law trust; only estate and succession planning advisory is available, including via the Lombard Odier partnership.
Who controls Bank Mandiri?
The controlling stake (52% at end-2025) belongs to state-owned PT Danantara Asset Management; the bank is listed on the IDX under the ticker BMRI.
