Concept
BRI Private is the top tier of the wealth franchise of PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, Indonesia's oldest bank (founded in 1895). The franchise is built in two levels: BRI Prioritas (priority banking) graduates into BRI Private, the bank's HNW segment. Official entry thresholds: Prioritas — minimum total funds under management (FUM) of IDR 1 billion effective 1 August 2025, doubled from the previous IDR 500 million; BRI Private — minimum total FUM of IDR 15 billion (deposits + investments + bancassurance), according to official statements carried by the Indonesian press in 2025.
Scale: Wealth Management AUM of Rp 239.6tn (August 2024, +23% YoY), according to official information; 161,000 priority clients (October 2024, +22% YoY). Absolute end-2025 WM AUM is not disclosed: growth was +11.27% YoY at May 2025 and mutual-fund AUM grew 93% through December 2025, so no absolute figure is cited here. Group FY2025 (audited): net profit Rp 57.13tn, down 5.3% from the record Rp 60.31tn of FY2024 — BCA narrowly edged past BRI as Indonesia's most profitable bank in FY2025; total assets Rp 2,135tn (#2 by assets); CASA 70.6%; NPL 2.05%. The BRImo app has 45.9m users, Indonesia's largest mobile-banking base.

Regulation
BRI is a universal bank supervised by OJK (Otoritas Jasa Keuangan) and Bank Indonesia; deposits are LPS-insured; the bank is listed on the IDX (BBRI). The Republic of Indonesia is the ultimate controlling shareholder: a 53.19% stake is held via PT Danantara Asset Management (sovereign holding) plus a golden share.
Compliance context: on 26 June 2025 the KPK (Corruption Eradication Commission) announced an investigation into EDC-machine procurement at BRI (2020–2024, project value Rp 2.1tn); on 9 July 2025 five suspects were named, including former Vice President Director Catur Budi Harto and two other former executives — the case is ongoing. June 2026: a new KPK investigation (no suspects yet) into SMS/WhatsApp notification procurement at BRI and Telkom. In its 2024 and 2025 annual reports, BRI states that no material administrative sanctions affected its business continuity. The disclosure uses a materiality threshold and does not establish the absence of every OJK monetary fine. (Not to be confused with the May 2023 ransomware attack on BSI, an associate — not BRI itself.)
Source of wealth
Typical source of funds: SME and agricultural entrepreneurs (BRI's micro and rural heritage creates a graduation pipeline from micro to private), regional business owners, professionals.
Who it serves

Strengths
- scale with state backing: #2 by assets (Rp 2,135tn);
- deep regional network across Indonesia;
- awards: The Asset Triple A (2021–2024), Global Private Banker (June 2026);
- BRImo with 45.9m users — the country's largest mobile-banking base.
Where it falls short
- no international PB booking: the Singapore branch is wholesale, and the New York agency, Cayman branch and Hong Kong representative office are not private-banking centres;
- Indonesia-centric product set; no dedicated family office;
- thresholds and products are IDR-oriented.
Bottom line: for internationally mobile families, BRI Private is primarily an onshore Indonesian wealth platform — strong domestic coverage, state ownership and a mass-affluent graduation pipeline, but cross-border booking must be sought in other jurisdictions.
