Concept
Digital Nomad is the fastest and most cost-effective way to obtain a residence permit in Europe. Applicants receive a 3-year card just 3 months after beginning to collect the documents.
The main requirement is confirmation of monthly income from employment in Russia.
After obtaining the residence permit card, it is possible to retain tax residency in Russia. There is no requirement to stay in Spain longer than 183 days.
Those who planning relocation and tax optimisation may apply for the Beckham regime for 5 years β 0% on passive income from β¬7,000 per year.
The Spanish residence permit card allows free travel across Europe, provides access to international banking, and unblocks assets.
Taxes in Spain
Obtaining a residence permit does not automatically make you a tax resident of Spain.
If you do not reside in Spain for more than 183 days per year and have not submitted Modelo 030 to register as a tax resident, you are not obliged to pay taxes in Spain.
For individuals applying for a residence permit based on employment, there are no penalties for being absent from Spain for over 183 days and for not becoming a tax resident, and such applicants may renew their residence permit after 3 years. The requirement to reside in Spain for more than half a year was repealed in summer 2023 by a court decision declaring it unlawful.
Only those who are applying for a residency as individual entrepreneurs under the digital nomad programme are required to become tax residents of Spain. Failure to comply may lead to residence permit revocation within 1β1.5 years.
For this reason, for applicants who do not plan to relocate to Spain, we submit applications on the basis of employment in order to preserve the possibility of renewing the residence permit without becoming a tax resident of Spain.
For those who are applying via employment and planning to relocate to Spain, we recommend to use the Beckham Law regime, which fixes the income tax rate at 24% for 5 years, while dividends and passive income (e.g. investments) are taxed at 0%.
